Conference Bursary

The SSCE has a longstanding tradition of encouraging participation by students, unwaged members,
early-career academics, and ministers on low incomes. Accordingly, we invite members on low incomes
to apply for bursaries towards conference costs.
Any member is very welcome to apply for a bursary if you believe your circumstances may merit
additional help. In the first instance, please send an e-mail to and we will contact
you to request a confidential declaration of your circumstances. The deadline for receipt of bursary
applications for the 2021 conference will be 12 noon on Monday 23rd August 2021, and the outcome of
applications will be communicated shortly after. Bursary applications are assessed
confidentially. Please note that many of our members pay their conference fees out of their own
pockets, so lack of access to institutional subsidies alone does not necessarily constitute special

outcome of the application. A bursary-award ticket option will be made available on the online
registration page once the outcome of bursary applications is communicated, for the use of those who
have been awarded bursaries.
