Every spring, SSCE presents a conference for postgraduate students throughout the United Kingdom and Europe. The intent is to provide a safe and intellectually stimulating environment for postgraduate students to present papers pertaining to topics related to the field of Christian ethics.

This year’s postgraduate conference will explore the theme of teaching and formation in the context of Christian Ethics.  We will consider foundational questions such as what kinds of knowledge and activity constitutes Christian Ethics, how these are best transmitted, and how they are related to other theological disciplines such as biblical exegesis, systematic theology, liturgical studies, and ecumenism.  We will also consider how personal formation occurs in the good teaching and learning of Christian Ethics in universities, seminaries, churches, and other contexts and what roles our situatedness in differing geographical locations, ecclesial traditions and social positions plays in shaping our answers to these questions.

Prof. Robert Song (Durham) will give a plenary address in addition to a diverse selection of postgraduate papers surrounding our theme.

Registration fee is £20 and includes lunch, coffee, and refreshments. For details regarding paper proposals including the submission deadline, click here.
