Postgraduate
Research Forum
The Society has a forum to help and support all its Masters and
PhD student members, to give guidance and advice about study and
life as a postgraduate student. The coordinator of the forum is Jeremy Kidwell, a doctoral student at the University
of Edinburgh (pg-convener@ssce.org.uk). Jeremy would like to continue building
the directory of the postgraduate student members of the Society, with names,
email addresses, institutions, PhD or MA course title, and research interests,
so please contact him if you would like to be included in this (pg-convener@ssce.org.uk).
Conference
The next postgraduate research conference will take place later this Winter at the University of Edinburgh and information will be sent out to PG students on our mailing list and posted to this page once they are available. Postgraduate students in Christian Ethics, Theology, Philosophy and related disciplines are warmly invited to attend. Please include details of your full name and university affiliation. For details of how to join the Society (£10 per year), click here. Membership will also make you eligible for a reduced registration fee at the annual SSCE conference in Cambridge. To register for the Postgraduate Forum contact the PG forum convener or the Postgraduate Forum Secretary, Ian Clausen.
There will also be a second PG research conference in September before the annual conference at at Westcott House, in the city centre of Cambridge. Just before the full SSCE conference begins on Friday afternoon, the SSCE Postgraduate Forum will be scheduled that same day from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.
Present a Paper
Both forums are specifically designed to give research students an opportunity to present works in progress, and has become a regular and successful feature of the SSCE conference. There is space during each forum for five papers from postgraduate students. Unlike the SSCE general conerence, the PG research forum conferences are not themed, and papers are welcome discussing a wide variety of subjects in Christian ethics. Papers should be 20-25 minutes in length and allow 5-10 minutes for discussion and questions. The goal of these sessions is to offer a supportive and critical environment for sharing research, writing and work in progress.
To submit a paper proposal, please submit a 300-400 word abstract to the PG forum convener or the Postgraduate Forum Secretary, Ian Clausen. We will announce an official call for papers later this Winter.
Postgraduate Books
The of the aims of the postgraduate
forum is to provide help with research matters for its research
students, the following books are not meant to be an exhaustive
list and there are other excellent books available, but these
books are a short selection of the type of books available for
