| Discussion Group | |
| An email discussion group allows members of the group to send email to a central address, from which the message is relayed to all group members. The intention of this group is to allow communication between members of the Society on any subject related to Christian Ethics. In particular, this group is valuable for bibliographic requests, help with syllabi and teaching materials, reflection on recent news items, book/film recommendations, conference announcements, and calls for papers. Only group members are able to send messages to the list, so the list should not result in any unsolicited email. | |
| Membership of the group is open to all members of the Society. (Information about joining the Society is available on this site.) To join the Discussion Group, send an email message to owner-ssce *at* durham.ac.uk. | |
| Group Policies | |
| Purpose | |
| The SSCE Email Discussion Group is intended to enable those with interests in Christian Ethics to communicate with each other on any subject covered by Christian Ethics: ethical method, theory, concepts, sources, and applied topics. | |
| Structure | |
| 1. Membership of the SSCE Email Discussion Group is open to any member of the Society for the Study of Christian Ethics. (Information about joining the Society is available on this site.) | |
| 2. Only group members can send messages to the group, and only group members have access to the list of subscribers. | |
| 3. The Society appoints the administrators of the group, currently David Clough and Robert Song. The administrators are responsible for ensuring that messages sent to the group are appropriate according to the purpose of the group as stated above. In some circumstances, this may require measures such as preventing messages from being relayed to the group, and in extreme circumstances, excluding someone from the group. | |
| 4. The Society reserves the right to change list policies. | |
| How to Join and Use the Group | |
| 1. Subscribing | |
| To be added to the group, members of the Society may send an email to owner-ssce *at* durham.ac.uk. (Information about joining the Society is available on this site.) We will add you to the group and you will receive a copy of these instructions. | |
| 2. Unsubscribing | |
If you ever want to stop receiving messages from the discussion group, send an email to Majordomo *at* durham.ac.uk with the following command in the body of your email message:
unsubscribe ssceor from another email account, besides the one you used to subscribe to the group unsubscribe ssce [followed by the email address you used to subscribe to the group] |
|
| 3. Sending Messages to the Group | |
Once you have been subscribed to the group, you can send messages to other group members. To send a message to all group members, send an email to:
ssce *at* durham.ac.uk |
|
| 4. Subject Lines of Messages | |
| Please use the subject line of the email to identify the topic of your message as clearly as possible. If you are responding to a message sent by another group member, please use the prefix 'Re: ' in the subject line followed by the subject line from their message. This will make it easier for other group members to follow the course of discussions. | |
| 5. Attachments | |
| Please do not send email attachments to the list: this is a great inconvenience for many users, especially those with slow internet connections. If you wish to make a document available to list members, either use the list to advertize that members can request it from you directly, or (if you are prepared to make it publicly accessible) send the document to owner-ssce *at* durham.ac.uk with a request that the document be posted on the SSCE web site. | |
| 6. Enquiries about the Group | |
| If you have any queries about the group, or have problems unsubscribing from it, send a message to the administrators of the group: owner-ssce *at* durham.ac.uk. | |
