2018 Postgraduate Conference: Life, Death, and Meaning

Registration is closed for this event
This year’s postgraduate conference will explore the themes of life, death and meaning. We will consider meta-ethical questions of life and death, such as "What does it mean to be human?” in addition to grounded questions focused on the lives and deaths of particular people or concrete issues faced in contemporary society such as technology or immigration, for example.

Prof. Michael Banner (Cambridge) will give a plenary address on ‘Children and Commodification’ in addition to a diverse selection of postgraduate papers surrounding our theme.

Dr. Brian Brock (Aberdeen) and other members of the faculty at University of Aberdeen will be in attendance to provide feedback on postgraduate papers in addition to the students in attendance.

Call for Papers
We’re seeking papers which address questions and issues related to the theme. In addition to the questions specified above, we would also welcome papers from a range of other topics including: ecological ethics, bioethics, socio-economic ethics, disability ethics, sexual ethics, political ethics, other contemporary issues, and interdisciplinary perspectives.
